The letters after a provider's name should help you understand who is caring for you. Here is what they mean at Steadwell.

What this means in North Carolina
North Carolina nurse practitioners practice under a Collaborative Practice Agreement with a supervising physician. The agreement addresses the care provided and the arrangements for consultation and referral. It does not expand the nurse practitioner's scope beyond their education, certification, or the law.
Your treating provider at Steadwell is Zemoria. If your needs call for a physician's assessment, specialty consultation, or a different level of care, that should be discussed as part of the care plan. A practice agreement is not a promise that a psychiatrist is personally conducting your appointment.
How to choose the right fit
Ask whether a clinician sees people with your concerns, what services the visit includes, how follow-up works, and when they recommend consultation or referral. You can also ask directly: “What are your credentials, and who will be managing my care?”
The role title alone does not tell you everything about the individual clinician or the care you need. Your concerns, preferences, medical history, and the complexity of your situation all belong in that discussion.
